AAP MP Swati Maliwal Allegedly Assaulted at Arvind Kejriwal’s Residence: Controversy Erupts

A team from the Delhi Police, headed by an Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP), visited the residence of AAP MP Swati Maliwal on Thursday to investigate an alleged assault that reportedly took place at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Initial reports suggested that a call was made to the Delhi Police from Kejriwal’s residence on Monday morning, alleging that Maliwal had been assaulted there. Maliwal later visited a police station but left without filing a formal complaint.

Amidst the unfolding controversy, AAP leader Sanjay Singh acknowledged that Kejriwal’s private secretary, Bibhav Kumar, had “misbehaved” with Maliwal while she was awaiting a meeting with the Chief Minister. Singh further stated that Kejriwal had taken note of the incident and demanded strict action be taken. Despite AAP’s acknowledgment of the alleged misbehavior, Kumar was seen accompanying Kejriwal at the Lucknow airport.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has summoned Bibhav Kumar for Friday at 11 am, taking suo moto cognizance of media reports regarding the incident. The Commission’s notice warned of further actions if Kumar fails to comply. The incident has sparked controversy and speculation, particularly given Kumar’s prominent role in the Chief Minister’s office. However, the police have yet to receive a formal complaint regarding the alleged assault.
