First visually impaired woman IAS officer designated as Kerala sub-collector

Today, Pranjal Patil who is visually impaired took charge as sub-collector and Revenue Divisional officer of Thiruvananthapuram. She is India’s first woman IAS officer with visual impairment.

Pranjal, lost her vision at the age of six, she hails from Maharashtra. She completed her post graduation degree in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University and later decoded the Union Public Service Examination in her first attempt in 2016 with a rank of 773.

She was intently offered a job at the Indian Railway Accounts Service, based on the visual impairment she was rescinded. Following year she equipped for the exam again and wrote UPSC and secured 124th rank.
