The principal session court on Tuesday stated double life imprisonment and planked over a fine of Rs 40,000 for 10 convicts in the Kevin murder case.
Both life spans can be served together.
The convicts were not bestowed a death sentence considering their age. The court perceived that the convicts had no criminal history. The life verdict was imparted for murder, kidnapping and threatening. Lawyers opined that completing the trial in a short span on such cases is rare.
Kevin was abducted on May 27, 2018, by a gang allegedly hired by his wife’s family and the deceased body was found in a river in Kollam after a day. During the ongoing 90 days trial case, the District Additional Session Court, Kevin’s wife presented that it was a case of honour killing as he was abducted and killed by her relatives because they believed that their marriage would dishonour their family.
