Nadda Assumes Charge, Focuses on First 100 Days Agenda

Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda convened a meeting with top officials from the health and family welfare ministry after taking charge on Tuesday, emphasizing the new government’s agenda for the initial 100 days. According to an insider, the meeting was primarily for familiarization as most officials from Nadda’s previous tenure had shifted to other departments. Key projects, including the expansion of Ayushman Bharat coverage, were discussed.

Nadda previously held the health portfolio from November 2014 to May 2019 before transitioning to the role of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) working president in 2019 and later full-fledged BJP chief in January 2020. With his term as BJP president concluding in January and a six-month extension granted to oversee the Lok Sabha elections, Nadda now also oversees the chemicals and fertilizers ministry, a role previously held by Mansukh Mandaviya.

In related developments, Anupriya Patel and Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav were sworn in as ministers of state (MoS) for health and participated in discussions with officials. Patel also took on responsibilities as MoS for chemicals and fertilizers, while Jadhav has been appointed MoS (independent charge) for the Ayush ministry.
