National award-winning Bollywood music composer Khayyam passes away at 92

Legendary music composer Khayyam passes away at 92. Mohammed Zahir Hashmi, recipient of National award popularly known as Khayyam in his musical journey. Following a lung infection, Khayyam took his last breath on Monday night in a private hospital. He is survived by his wife Jagjit Kaur, a singer by profession.

Khayyam Bollywood classics are timeless include of Kabhie Kabhie, Razia Sultan, Trishul, Noorie and Umarao Jaan. He composed music for Meena Kumari’s album as well “I write, I Recite” by featuring her singing of her own poetic compositions. Khayyam’s non-film songs are evenly embraced by his fans.

Khayyam started his musical journey from Ludhiana at the age of 17. He is conferred with the National Award, Padma Bhushan, and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
