Actress Uorfi Javed Receives Death Threats Over Halloween Costume Inspired by Bollywood Character

Actress and reality star Uorfi Javed, celebrated for her unique and creative fashion choices, has found herself at the center of controversy and facing death threats after she shared a Halloween costume inspired by a character from Bollywood. Javed recreated the iconic “Chhote Pandit” character played by Rajpal Yadav in the popular film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’. She painted her face red, donned an orange dhoti, and adorned herself with a marigold garland and incense sticks, intending to pay homage to the character. However, the costume, meant in good spirits, has ignited a backlash, with some deeming it offensive to Hindu sentiments.

After posting the video on her Instagram account, Javed was inundated with negative comments and criticism. Some users asserted that her portrayal of ‘Chhote Pandit’ was disrespectful to Hindu culture and religion. Disturbingly, she also revealed that she had received death threats, sharing screenshots of threatening emails she had received. One such message from Nikhil Goswami demanded the removal of the video, threatening harm if it wasn’t taken down. Another email, from an individual named Rupesh Kumar, questioned her actions’ impact on Hinduism and included a menacing threat.

Uorfi Javed, known for her appearances on reality TV shows like ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ and ‘MTVSplitsvillaX4’, expressed her shock and dismay at the threats she had received. She highlighted the disparity between her harmless costume recreation and the absence of backlash for the original character.
