Adani family to donate Rs 60K crore with a focus on health, education, skill

Gautam Adani and his family have promised to pay Rs 60,000 crore, one of the largest charity contributions by an Indian corporate family, to support healthcare, education, and skill development, according to a statement from his logistics-to-energy conglomerate. The Adani Foundation will be in charge of the donation.

The statement read, “There is an ever-growing need to focus on the areas of healthcare, education, and skill development to exploit the potential of India’s demographic advantage.

The Adani Foundation has a wealth of expertise engaging with local communities on integrated development initiatives in all of these fields. By resolving these issues, our future workforce’s competency and competitiveness can be considerably improved, it continued.

With this pledge, Adani will join the group of Indian business organisations that make sizable charity contributions. According to the 2021 EdelGive Hurun Philanthropists of the Century list, Jamsetji Tata is the greatest philanthropist of the 20th century, with an estimated current worth of donations of $102.4 billion. Azim Premji, the chairman of Wipro, and his foundation have made significant donations as well. As of 2021, they have given $22 billion.

Gautam Adani and his family’s dedication to philanthropy, according to a statement by Adani, “should set an example that we should all endeavour to live Mahatma Gandhi’s ideal of Trusteeship of Wealth at the top of our corporate success and need not wait for our sunset years.”
