Allahabad HC Orders NTA to Produce Original NEET Records for Student

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to present the original records of a student, Aayushi Patel, who has claimed she has not received her NEET results. This decision was made in response to Patel’s writ petition alleging her OMR sheet was found torn, preventing her results from being declared. Patel has requested a manual evaluation of her OMR sheet and an inquiry into the NTA’s handling of the matter.

During the hearing, the NTA presented Patel’s original OMR sheet, scorecard, and attendance sheet, asserting that all documents were intact. Despite this, discrepancies were noted by the court, specifically the differing application numbers on the OMR sheet and the e-mail sent by Patel. The court has scheduled the next hearing for June 18, demanding both parties submit the original documents for further examination.

The court’s decision to scrutinize the original records comes amid Patel’s plea to halt the ongoing counseling process for the exam. The case highlights potential administrative issues within the NTA’s process of handling exam results and underscores the importance of transparency in the evaluation of national-level entrance tests.
