Allegations of Poisoning and Fiery Exchange in Bihar Legislative Assembly

In a dramatic turn of events in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader and former Chief Minister, Jitan Ram Manjhi, has alleged a conspiracy to poison the current Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, in a bid to seize power. Manjhi claimed that someone is intentionally giving poisonous substances in Kumar’s food to compromise his health and, subsequently, his position. The accusations came after a heated session where Kumar engaged in a fiery exchange with his predecessor during a debate on reservation bills.

During the assembly debate, Manjhi expressed support for expanding reservation quotas but raised concerns about the inadequate representation of Scheduled Castes among gazetted officers. He called for a comprehensive review of the impact of reservation, citing the roster system in place since 1971. However, Kumar vehemently interrupted Manjhi, criticizing his previous term in office and even suggesting that Manjhi harbored ambitions to become the Governor. The exchange escalated, with Kumar facing accusations of disrespecting a Dalit leader.

Despite calls for calm, Kumar continued his tirade against Manjhi, leading to further discord in the assembly. Manjhi later accused Kumar of forgetting basic decency and losing his mental balance. This confrontation follows Nitish Kumar’s recent controversial remarks about population control, where he provided a vivid description of how an educated woman can restrain her husband during sexual intercourse. The remarks sparked backlash and further intensified the political tensions in Bihar.
