Bengaluru’s Deputy CM Announces One-Time Property Tax Settlement Scheme

Bengaluru’s Deputy Chief Minister, D K Shivakumar, has announced an extension of the ‘One Time Settlement’ (OTS) scheme to clear overdue property taxes in the city until July 31. Under the scheme, taxpayers will receive a 50% concession on penalties and a 100% concession on interest payments. Shivakumar urged citizens to take advantage of this opportunity, noting that over 50,000 people have already paid their dues, while another 4 lakh are yet to settle.

Shivakumar emphasized that properties with unpaid taxes by August 1 will be considered defaulters, and those who previously avoided taxes can obtain a property tax account by paying within 90 days. He also mentioned that out of 20 lakh taxable properties, 8 lakh have been digitized, with the remaining to be completed in three months. Once digitization is finished, digital records will be sent to property owners.

Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister addressed the ban on flex banners, stating that they are extensively used by various organizations, including political parties. He warned that action will be taken against Assistant Revenue Officers for non-compliance and encouraged the public to report unauthorized flex banners via the BBMP helpline.
