BS Yeddyurappa resigns as Karnataka Chief Minister

BS Yeddyurappa, the BJP’s most powerful figure in Karnataka, has resigned as chief minister. Yeddyurappa announced his resignation at the end of the second anniversary of his cabinet. Yeddyurappa said he was resigning and would meet the governor. The BJP central leadership will take the final decision on who will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Yeddyurappa announced his resignation at the end of a two-year progress card of the government. The announcement of his resignation was expected earlier. This is the fourth time that BS Yeddyurappa has stepped down from the Vidhan Sabha after failing to complete his term in office amid power struggles and public protests within the party.

Yeddyurappa spoke with a shaking voice. “His life is dedicated to the BJP. The party is bigger than the status quo. He is a leader who has been blessed by people from Vajpayee to Narendra Modi. He has already received all the senior positions in the party. Encountered great ordeals. I don’t want prestige, “Yeddyurappa said.

The leadership wants Yeddyurappa to be replaced by a radical leader as the Chief Minister. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, National General Secretary CT Ravi, Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Mines Minister Murukesh Nirani are under active consideration. Within the party, the UP model should be tested in Karnataka as well, and the move is a complete overhaul of the cabinet.
