Celebrations Begin As Dimple Yadav Wins High-Stakes Mainpuri Seat

Dimple Yadav, a candidate for the Samajwadi Party, defeated BJP challenger Raghuraj Singh Shakya on Thursday to win the prestigious Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat by more than two lakh votes. After Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party’s founder, passed away on October 10, the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat fell vacant, forcing a byelection within six months.

At the Samajwadi Party headquarters in Mainpuri, where party leader Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav attended a press conference, there were huge jubilation.

Party workers could be seen waving party flags and dancing to the sounds of the dhol and pungi flute. Dimple and Akhilesh Yadav have both engaged in considerable electioneering, attempting to win support in the name of Mulayam Singh Yadav, or “Netaji.” Additionally, Akhilesh and his uncle Shivpal Yadav, whose relationships had been tense for a while, appear to have made up as a result of the victory. A well-known politician in the region is Shivpal.

” The entire family unitedly contested the bypoll due to which we are heading for a big victory. In all future elections, the family (Yadav family) will remain united and contest together,” Shivpal told reporters in Mainpuri.

Additionally, he declared that his party would soon join forces with the Samajwadi party to present a unified front.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported me. I said this would be a historic mandate in the name of Neta ji and that is what has happened,” she said. Dimple Yadav thanked Mainpuri voters for their support after she won.

Although the results of the byelections won’t have much of an impact on the BJP’s ability to govern both the centre and Uttar Pradesh, a victory would provide the victor a psychological edge in the run-up to the general election in 2024.

Six assembly seats in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, as well as the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency, were up for election on December 5.
