Delhi Court Charges BJP Leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh with Sexual Harassment
A Delhi court on Friday charged BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh with several offenses related to the sexual harassment of five female wrestlers. The Rouse Avenue Court found sufficient evidence to proceed with charges of outraging the modesty of a woman and sexual harassment, although he was not charged for stalking under Section 354D.
The court’s decision came after reviewing the material presented, which supported the accusations against Singh as the primary suspect in the harassment case. Notably, he faces additional charges of criminal intimidation under Section 506(1) concerning two of the victims, identified only as Victim 1 and Victim 5.
In contrast, charges involving allegations made by a sixth victim were dismissed, as the court did not find enough evidence to support claims against Singh in that particular instance. The case continues to develop as the court prepares for the trial phase.
