Delhi High Court Summons T-Series Over Animal’s OTT Release Amidst Legal Battle

In a recent development, the Delhi High Court has issued summons to T-Series following a suit filed by Cine1 Studios Private Limited, one of the co-producers of the film “Animal,” seeking a stay on its release on OTT platforms. The legal action contends that T-Series has breached contractual agreements and requests the court to restrain the film’s release on any streaming or satellite platform. Justice Sanjeev Narula has admitted the suit, instructing defendants to file written statements along with affidavits of admission or denial of the plaintiff’s documents.

The court proceedings reveal that Cine1 Studios claims Super Cassettes Industries Pvt Ltd, a defendant, consistently breached contractual rights. Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi, representing Cine1 Studios, asserts that T-Series released the film without proper approval, incurred expenses, and failed to disclose revenues or production costs. The court has set the next hearing for further submissions on January 22, 2024, with both parties directed to submit brief notes of their arguments along with relevant case law.
