Education Minister Denies NEET-UG Paper Leak Allegations, Announces Retest for Affected Students

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has firmly dismissed allegations of a paper leak in the NEET-UG examination, asserting that the claims are baseless and no evidence has been found to support them. Emphasizing the integrity of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Pradhan highlighted that the agency remains a credible body amidst these unfounded accusations.

The Supreme Court has approved a retest for 1563 students who received grace marks due to time lost during the exam, with the retest scheduled for June 23. The NTA announced the cancellation of grace marks for these students, offering them the choice to either retake the exam or accept their original scores without the grace marks. The decision came after a four-member committee’s review and subsequent recommendations.

Pradhan explained that NEET-UG was conducted at over 4500 centers, with incorrect question distribution reported at only six locations. This affected 1563 students, who were initially given grace marks following a Supreme Court order. The minister reassured that the issue was isolated and handled appropriately, reiterating the government’s commitment to maintaining the examination’s fairness and the students’ interests.
