EUIPO Warns Users About Fake Websites Mimicking Official Portal

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has warned users about fraudulent websites designed to imitate its official online portal. According to the organization, unauthorized third parties are creating counterfeit sites that copy the appearance, logos and layout of genuine EUIPO pages to deceive visitors into believing they are accessing legitimate services.

The sites may attempt to trick users into taking unauthorized actions or downloading malicious software. EUIPO said its official systems and databases have not been compromised. The agency stressed that legitimate security checks will never ask users to execute system commands or open tools such as Command Prompt, PowerShell, Terminal or the “Run” window. Authentic Captcha or verification procedures will also never instruct users to copy and paste code onto their devices.

The agency urged users to carefully check the website address and confirm that they are visiting an official EUIPO domain. Users should avoid following unexpected instructions, particularly those involving software downloads or system commands, and report suspicious websites. EUIPO emphasized that fraudulent pages are hosted on external domains outside its official infrastructure.
