FM introduces a pro-farmer budget

Giving wings to the anticipations of the poor people living in the less developed rural regions of India, the Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, has introduced a pro-farmer budget in the parliament.

Experts consider the budget introduced by the NDA government as the populist budget, as there are several populist announcements in the budget.

While speaking about the budget, the Finance Minister has said that the pro-poor budget, which sincerely addresses the concerns of the rural population and has amble provisions for the improvement of the education and health care sectors, clearly shows how much the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, care about the poor people of the country.

The unfortunate fact is that these are no big announcements for the middle class (the salaried class) in the budget. Moreover, the budget has also failed to address the issue of unemployment; the policies taken to achieve employment generation or to reduce unemployment have not even received a place in the dossier.

There are clear, though indirect, indications in the document that the prime aim of the budget is to woo those, depend on the agrarian sector, who are unhappy with the way they are being treated by the governments which have ruled the centre.

The nation is going to witness a general election in the year 2019. This pro-budget is the last full budget before the 2019 general election.
