From ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ to ‘Swipe, Match, Love’: The Evolution of Indian Relationships

Well, it seems like the Indian relationship landscape is finally starting to loosen up a bit, and not just because of all the spicy food!

Gone are the days when Aunties and Uncles would play matchmaker for their unsuspecting nephews and nieces. Now, young Indians are using dating apps to swipe right on their own prospects, and maybe even get a match without their family’s involvement!

But it’s not just love marriages that are gaining ground. Open relationships, or “throuples” as they’re sometimes called, are also on the rise. I guess that means couples are finally realizing that sometimes it’s better to share the load, and maybe even the laundry!

Of course, these changes are not happening at the same pace across India. Some areas are still firmly holding onto their traditional values, while others are already embracing the new normal. It’s kind of like playing a game of “relationship roulette” – you never know what you’re going to get!

Regardless of where you stand on these issues, it’s exciting to see the Indian society evolving and embracing new ideas. Who knows, maybe in a few years we’ll see a Bollywood rom-com featuring an open relationship, or maybe even a same-sex marriage! One thing’s for sure, the Indian relationship landscape is changing, and it’s definitely something to keep an eye on!
