Gens Aurea Plans Milan IPO as Gold Market Booms
Italian cash-for-gold trader Gens Aurea announced on Monday that it plans to list on the Milan Stock Exchange, potentially becoming Italy’s first major initial public offering (IPO) in three years. The company, owned by private equity firm DVC Partners, said the offering will consist of a private placement of existing shares. The move comes amid strong momentum in the gold market, with prices reaching record highs earlier this year.
Gens Aurea operates around 530 stores across Europe through eight brands, including Orocash and OroCaja. While most of its business is concentrated in Italy, the company also has a presence in Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, and Austria. Its operations focus on purchasing gold from retail customers and selling it to European gold smelters, alongside marketing investment gold products and branded jewellery.
The company reported revenue of €836 million and EBITDA of €105 million in 2025. For the current year, Gens Aurea is targeting revenue of €1.5 billion and adjusted EBITDA exceeding €200 million. Chairman Inigo Barcaiztegui said the IPO would enhance the company’s public profile, strengthen brand recognition, and attract a broader base of long-term investors. BNP Paribas and Jefferies are serving as joint global coordinators for the offering, with UniCredit acting as co-global coordinator, while Banca Akros and Alantra are also involved in the transaction.
