Prompting the AIADMK cadres to attempt some unacceptable forms of protest like the self-immolation, the Income Tax department has conducted raids in the house of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, which is situated at Poes Garden in Chennai.

The I-T officials have claimed that they got secret information that some people tried to remove some crucial shreds of evidence from the rooms where the jailed AIADMK leader, V K Sasikala, and late CM’s Personal Assistant, Poongundram, lived.

There have been nearly fifteen I-T officials and an Additional Commissioner in the team which has carried out the search operation.

Initially, the police officials posted in the Veda Nialayam have stopped the I-T officials. Later, some senior police officials have reached the spot and allowed the I-T officials to perform their duty after the verification of the warrant the concerned officials have shown.

The AIADMK leaders close to the Sasikala faction have alleged that the I-T officials have tried to open the late former CM’s room.

Anyway, the I-T officials have asserted that they have only raided the rooms lived by Sasikala and Poongundram.

They have added that they have seized some electronic devices from the rooms where they have opened.

Those AIADMK workers who have tried to do self-immolation in protest of the raid have been booked by the police officials.
