Karnataka CM Urges PM to Cancel Diplomatic Passport of JDS MP Prajwal Revanna Amid Sex Assault Allegations

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to revoke the diplomatic passport of Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of multiple instances of sexual abuse. In his letter, Siddaramaiah criticized the MP for fleeing to Germany on April 27 using his diplomatic passport, shortly after the allegations surfaced and before the first case was filed against him. The Chief Minister expressed dismay that previous requests for action had not been addressed despite the seriousness of the accusations.

Siddaramaiah emphasized that Revanna’s escape, leveraging his diplomatic privileges, is a significant misuse of his status to evade criminal proceedings. The Karnataka government has already issued a Look Out Circular and a Blue Corner Notice against Revanna, but he remains at large. The Ministry of External Affairs has also been contacted regarding the cancellation of his diplomatic passport, underlining the state’s urgency in bringing Revanna to justice.

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and son of Karnataka MLA HD Revanna, has been under investigation since explicit videos allegedly showing him sexually abusing several women emerged last month. The Karnataka government has formed a special team to probe these allegations, highlighting the gravity and high-profile nature of the case.
