Lacoste Pays €9.9 Million to Settle French Tax Dispute

French fashion brand Lacoste has reportedly paid €9.9 million to the French Ministry of Finance following a tax reassessment, according to L’Informé. The dispute reportedly began four years ago and involved the group’s holding company, which oversees subsidiaries in France and international markets including Germany, Asia and the United States.

The initial reassessment was reportedly €13.6 million, including €3.6 million in surcharges and penalties. After Lacoste challenged the assessment, the amount was reduced to €9.9 million, which the company has now reportedly paid to settle the dispute.

The French Directorate General of Public Finances and Lacoste had not immediately responded to AFP requests for comment. The development comes shortly after Lacoste unveiled a refreshed visual identity, including a return to a shade of green closer to its original brand colour.
