Modi Denies Targeting Muslims in Infiltrator Remarks, Owaisi Responds

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently clarified that his comments about ‘infiltrators’ and people with ‘too many children’ during a rally in Rajasthan’s Banswara were not aimed at Muslims. In an interview, Modi emphasized that his statements were intended to address poverty and family planning among all impoverished communities, irrespective of religion. This clarification follows allegations that his comments were discriminatory towards Muslims, leading to a formal complaint by the Congress to the Election Commission.

Asaduddin Owaisi, leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and a vocal critic of the BJP, vehemently rejected Modi’s clarification. Owaisi accused the Prime Minister of consistently spreading “lies and immense hatred against Muslims” throughout his political career. He asserted that Modi’s explanation was a delayed and false attempt to dissociate from his previous anti-Muslim politics, criticizing Modi’s supporters for endorsing such narratives despite the controversial statements.

The ongoing controversy highlights the tense atmosphere surrounding the general elections, with political leaders scrutinizing each other’s statements and their potential implications on communal harmony. Modi’s insistence on non-sectarian politics and Owaisi’s staunch opposition underscore the polarized nature of current political debates in India.
