Nigerian Wig Maker Sets Guinness World Record with 1,152 Feet Long Wig

Helen Williams, a skilled wig maker hailing from Laos, Nigeria, has etched her name in the annals of Guinness World Records with a remarkable feat. On July 7, 2023, Helen meticulously crafted the world’s longest handmade wig, stretching an astounding 351.28 meters or 1,152 feet and 5 inches. Her passion for wig making, nurtured since her formative years spent poring over Guinness World Record books, fueled her ambition to achieve this unprecedented milestone.

The arduous process spanned 11 grueling days, during which Helen, leveraging her expertise, meticulously fashioned the underlay of the wig using wig-cap netting and black fabric, securing it to a bicycle helmet as its foundation. Her craftsmanship entailed a staggering 1000 bundles of hair, supplemented by 12 cans of hair spray, 35 tubes of hair glue, and a whopping 6250 hair clips. Despite her professional background, Helen confessed to the immense challenge and exhaustion she faced throughout the endeavor. However, buoyed by unwavering support from her family and friends, she persevered, channeling unwavering focus to clinch the coveted Guinness World Record for her extraordinary creation.
