Nitin Gadkari Temporarily Incapacitated at Maharashtra Rally, Recovers to Continue Speech

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari experienced a brief health scare on Tuesday when he fainted while delivering a speech at an election rally in Yavatmal, Maharashtra. The incident, which was live-streamed, caused immediate concern among attendees and viewers alike. Gadkari, a key figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a candidate for Nagpur in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, was quickly assisted by those present, who provided him with the necessary medical attention, allowing him to resume his address shortly after the episode.

The rally was part of Gadkari’s campaign efforts for Rajashree Patil, a candidate from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction of the Shiv Sena, within the ruling Mahayuti alliance. This political engagement comes amid speculations about Gadkari’s future within the BJP, following a delay in confirming his candidacy for Nagpur, a seat he has successfully contested in the past two elections. The delay sparked comments from Uddhav Thackeray, former Chief Minister, inviting Gadkari to join the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, promising him a significant ministerial role.

Gadkari’s commitment to the BJP was reaffirmed when he was named on the party’s list shortly after Thackeray’s proposition. Addressing the controversy in Yavatmal, he dismissed the offer from Thackeray as “immature” and emphasized the systematic process of candidate selection within his party. As the election progresses, the BJP continues to negotiate seat-sharing arrangements with its allies in Maharashtra, focusing on key constituencies like Nashik, Thane, and Mumbai South.
