Perikatan dreaming of “Kelantan-ising” Selangor, according to Shabery Cheek
Perikatan Nasional (PN), according to Barisan Nasional (BN) strategic communications director Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, would transform Selangor into Kelantan if it were to win the state election here.
The former sports and youth minister said it would be a disturbing development for Malaysia if the nation’s most industrialized state were to fall into the hands of PAS, which has ruled Kelantan since 1990. He was speaking at the opening of Mega Madani Tour.
“Take a look at Kelantan’s situation. Its water problem hasn’t been fixed yet. They are “Kelantan-izing” Penang, Negeri Sembilan, and Selangor in their dreams.
“That is dangerous. Instead, let’s Selangor-ise Kelantan. Selangor is the symbol of progress. Kelantanese migrate here to look for better opportunities. It says something,” he said in his speech here at Laman Niaga Bandar Baru Bangi.
In addition, he said that PN was notorious for its deceit and asked those there to strive to defeat the federal Opposition alliance.
The national unity government’s constituent parties are kicking off their election campaigns tonight for the Selangor state election.
On August 12, state elections will be held in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
In the elections, longtime adversaries BN and Pakatan Harapan will face off as allies for the first time since joining forces to create the national unity government following the 15th general election last year.
