PM Modi Accuses Congress of Delaying OROP Implementation, Highlights Achievements

In a recent address during a public meeting in Morena, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress of delaying the implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme for the defense forces. He emphasized that it was his government that executed the policy and has so far deposited ₹70,000 crore into the bank accounts of eligible retired personnel. OROP ensures that soldiers of the same rank and length of service receive the same pension, regardless of their retirement date. PM Modi criticized Congress for allocating only ₹500 crore for OROP, which he deemed insufficient, and highlighted his government’s commitment to ex-servicemen’s long-standing demands.

PM Modi also mentioned his government’s efforts in promoting gender equality in the armed forces, specifically by opening the doors of Sainik Schools for girls and facilitating the deployment of women officers in forward areas. He asserted that Congress had not adequately prioritized national security and had left the defense forces dependent on foreign weapons, depriving them of modern arms. PM Modi stressed that under the BJP government, the armed forces have been equipped with modern weaponry, and the ‘Made-in-India’ initiative has played a significant role in achieving this.

Furthermore, PM Modi criticized the Congress for its stance on resource allocation, contrasting it with his government’s commitment to the poor. He stated that for his administration, the poor had the first right to the nation’s resources and highlighted initiatives like the Garib Kalyan Yojna (free ration scheme) benefiting those in the SC/ST and OBC categories. He also noted that his government has provided 48 lakh pucca houses to beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh and emphasized the Ayushman Yojna, which guarantees free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh for every individual, ensuring they do not suffer due to financial constraints.

In summary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Congress for its handling of the OROP scheme and defense issues while highlighting his government’s achievements in ensuring security, gender equality, and welfare for the economically disadvantaged.
