Reliance Jio and IIT Bombay Collaborate to Develop “Bharat GPT” AI Project, Unveil Ambitious Plans at Techfest
In a groundbreaking announcement at the IIT Bombay Techfest, Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, revealed an ambitious collaboration between the telecom giant and the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. This partnership aims to pioneer the “Bharat GPT” project, an Artificial Intelligence endeavor poised to revolutionize various sectors. Ambani highlighted their relentless efforts to integrate AI not just as a vertical within their organization but horizontally across all facets of their operations.
Ambani underscored the profound impact of AI, stating, “AI is set to consume everything—representing both artificial intelligence and ‘all included.'” Emphasizing its transformative potential, he expressed confidence that AI will permeate and redefine the landscape of products and services in unprecedented ways.
Beyond AI, Reliance Jio unveiled its ambitious plans, including the provision of 5G private networks complete with a comprehensive 5G stack for enterprises. Additionally, Ambani outlined the company’s strategic forays into diverse domains such as media, commerce, communication, and devices, signaling a robust expansion across multiple sectors.
Furthermore, Ambani hinted at Reliance Jio’s venture into operating systems (OS), disclosing ongoing efforts to develop an OS tailored explicitly for televisions. He affirmed the company’s comprehensive approach towards this innovation and its determination to ensure a seamless launch.
During his address, Ambani hailed Jio as the world’s largest startup and India as the foremost innovation hub for the forthcoming decade. Bolstering his optimism, he projected India’s economy to surge to $6 trillion by the decade’s close, reinforcing Reliance Jio’s commitment to driving technological advancements and economic growth in the country.
