Rib Fractured by P Chidambaram According to a congressman, cops pushed him

According to his party colleague Randeep Surjewala, Congress leader P Chidambaram suffered a fracture in his left rib after being shoved by Delhi Police during the party’s demonstration in Delhi today. Hundreds of Congress officials and members demonstrated outside the Enforcement Directorate’s Delhi office as party leader Rahul Gandhi appeared for questioning by the investigative agency in an alleged money laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper.

“The Modi government has gone beyond the pale of savagery. P Chidambaram, the former Home Minister, was struck by police, his glasses were flung to the ground, and he suffered a hairline fracture in his left rib. Pramod Tiwari, a member of Parliament, was thrown out on the street. He has a rib fracture and a head injury. Is this a democratic country?” In a video message, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that he tweeted.

Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by party heavyweights Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and others, in addition to Mr Chidambaram.

In other states, Congress leaders and workers took to the streets, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government of “trampling on democracy.” Hundreds of people were arrested in the capital after attempting to march to the Enforcement Directorate office despite tight barricades.

The Enforcement Directorate is investigating key Congress officials and the Gandhis as part of a probe into the promoters of Young Indian and Associated Journals Ltd’s shareholding structure, financial transactions, and participation.

After a trial court noted an Income Tax Department enquiry against Young Indian Pvt Ltd based on a private criminal complaint made by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy in 2013, the probe agency recently filed a new case under the criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, or PMLA.

The move of the Enforcement Directorate was dubbed “vendetta” by the Congress party.
