Sidhu Moose Wala’s father breaks down while unveiling his statue: ‘Can’t bear to see son as statue at 28’

Balkaur Singh, the father of the late musician Sidhu Moose Wala, sobbed when he recently unveiled a 6.5-foot statue of him in Mansa. In addition to stating that it is intolerable to observe Sidhu as a statue, Balkaur noted that Sidhu’s family is yearning for justice.

On May 29, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang shot and killed Sidhu in Punjab’s Mansa. A day after the Punjab Police removed his security, Sidhu was among the 424 people who were also killed. Prior to the assembly elections last year, in December, the singer joined the Congress party. “I can’t bear to see my son as a statute at 28. We wait for justice. The killers, whether sitting on foreign soil or here, should be punished,” said Balkaur Singh.

With his songs, Sidhu gained popularity among the general public. After his passing, his final song, SYL (which alludes to the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal), was released. The Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal, which has long been a point of contention between Punjab and Haryana, is discussed in the song about Punjab’s water problem.

The music video, which Sidhu composed, was posted online by the producer MXRCI on June 23. But a few days later, it was removed from the platform. On YouTube, the song received 3.3 million likes and over 27 million views.
