Singer Balwinder Safri passes away

Balwinder Safri, a Punjabi singer, passed away on Tuesday. He was 63. After sustaining brain injury following a cardiac surgery in April, Safri was in a vegetative state. Balwinder, who had previously been admitted to Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital, was transferred to a rehab facility. The Birmingham-born performer, who was of Punjabi descent, has been actively involved in the Bhangra music industry since the 1980s. In 1990, he founded the Safri Boyz Band.

“The famous singer #Balwindersafri has regretfully left us with his wonderful memories,” Mika Singh said in a tribute to Balwinder Safri on social media. I grew up listening to his songs, and he will always be remembered and honoured. Waheguru. May God grant his soul eternal peace.
