Snake On Train In Kerala Triggers Panic

The Thiruvananthapuram-Nizamuddin Express was forced to make a lengthy halt in Kozhikode, Kerala, in order to hunt for a snake that some passengers had noticed in one of the train’s compartments, however the snake was not discovered. Press Trust of India was informed by railroad sources that on Wednesday night, shortly after the train left Tirur station, passengers in the S5 compartment reported seeing a snake between the luggage under a lower bunk.

As word of the snake spread, passengers in the train began to panic, according to sources quoted by Press Trust of India. The Forest department sent out experts to find the snake as soon as the message got to the Kozhikode station railway officials.

Around 10:15 p.m., all passengers in the compartment where the snake was spotted disembarked at Kozhikode station, where two snake catchers who had been hired by the Forest officials performed a thorough search. However, according to railway sources who spoke to PTI, the snake eluded capture.

According to railway sources who cited the snake catchers, the reptile depicted in a passenger photo was only a rat snake and may have escaped or hidden in a hole discovered next to the compartment. By midnight, the hole had been plugged, according to sources who spoke to Press Trust of India, and the train had continued its journey.
