Tamil Cinema Megastar Vijay Set to Launch His Own Political Party in Tamil Nadu
Tamil cinema’s popular actor, ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay, is gearing up to enter the political arena by launching his political party in Tamil Nadu. The actor, who has been a prominent figure in the Tamil film industry and is often compared to Rajinikanth, has been nurturing political ambitions for more than a decade. A close associate of Vijay confirmed that he has been elected as the party president and registering the new political entity with the Election Commission of India is underway. This move comes as a significant development in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, where cinema and politics have been closely intertwined for decades.
In preparation for this major political venture, a meeting involving around 200 members of the party’s general council was held to discuss key decisions. The General Secretary and Treasurer were appointed during this gathering, and a Central Executive Committee was formed. The council has given Vijay the authority to finalize the party’s name and oversee its registration. Anticipation is building around the party’s name, which, as per sources, is expected to include ‘Kazhagam’, a common suffix in Tamil Nadu’s political party names. Vijay’s political debut is being planned strategically ahead of the 2026 state polls in Tamil Nadu.
Vijay, the son of celebrated film director Chandrasekhar, has been a dominant figure in the Tamil film industry, starring in 68 films and often addressing sensitive social issues through his work. His fan clubs are actively involved in various charity and welfare activities, including food distribution, educational scholarships, and legal assistance, reflecting his commitment to social causes. Vijay’s recent initiative involved felicitating top-performing students in public exams, where he encouraged them to learn from leaders like Ambedkar, Periyar, and Kamaraj. With his immense popularity and a cult following in Tamil Nadu, Vijay’s entry into politics is expected to create significant ripples in the state’s political dynamics.
