Trinamool’s Saket Gokhale, In Jail, Arrested By Enforcement Directorate

Saket Gokhale, a member of the Trinamool party, was detained by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an alleged misuse of funds raised through crowdfunding. He’s currently being held in Gujarat prison for cheating. According to agency sources, Mr. Gokhale is charged with misappropriating $1.07 million raised through crowdsourcing.

On December 30, 2022, Mr. Gokhale was detained in Delhi by the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch in connection with a claim that he had misappropriated funds he had raised through crowdfunding. The Gujarat Police had detained Mr. Gokhale three times before to this one.

He was initially detained on December 6 for allegedly disseminating false information on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Morbi in Gujarat following the collapse of an aging suspension bridge there that killed 135 people.
