UK Influencer Ordered to Pay £213,000 for Selling Fake Luxury Goods
British content creator Georgia Aldridge has been ordered by the UK High Court to pay £213,000 in damages to several LVMH-owned luxury brands after being found liable for selling counterfeit designer products to her social media followers. The compensation will be shared among brands including Fendi, Loewe, Dior and Celine, which alleged that Aldridge’s activities resulted in lost sales.
Court records revealed that Aldridge sourced products resembling luxury branded items from the Chinese marketplace AliExpress before reselling them through Instagram accounts and a WhatsApp group. A default judgment issued in January 2025 concluded that she had infringed the brands’ trademarks by marketing counterfeit goods. During the proceedings, LVMH representative Nicolas Lambert warned that high-quality “mirror quality” or “1 to 1” replicas are increasingly convincing and can easily be mistaken for genuine products.
While the court rejected the luxury brands’ arguments that consumers were unaware they were purchasing counterfeit items, citing the significantly lower prices and customer communications as evidence to the contrary, it ruled that Aldridge had profited from inadequate disclosure. Although claims of reputational damage were dismissed, the court ordered her to compensate the brands for estimated lost profits.
