Uttarakhand Police Files Case Against UP Cops After Woman Dies In Shootout

Following a raid by UP Police on Wednesday in which one woman died, the Uttarakhand Police on Thursday filed a First Information Report (FIR) against over ten Uttar Pradesh police officers under the IPC’s attempt to murder and other pertinent provisions.
After a lady was allegedly slain in an altercation between residents and UP’s Moradabad Police in the Bharatpur hamlet of Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar late on Wednesday, irate villagers protested and blocked the national highway.

“UP Police came here without informing anyone. They were not in uniform and were not carrying ID cards. Raids are not conducted this way. They entered a house, fired, and a woman lost her life. This is wrong. A case of murder has been registered,” Nilesh Anand Bharney, DIG, Kumaon Range at Bharatpur.

DIG stated, “We are examining it. The local police, who are familiar with the region, could have been better able to assist if they had been told by the UP police. Without telling us, injured UP Police officers proceeded to the hospital in Moradabad.”

Rajkumar, the Additional Director General of Police, Bareilly, told ANI that a police squad had been kidnapped and shot at after travelling to Uttarakhand to seek for a wanted criminal.

Six members of the Uttar Pradesh Police from Moradabad were shot during the altercation with villagers in the village of Bharatpur, according to Shalabh Mathur, DIG (Moradabad), of the Uttar Pradesh Police. The UP police officers went to the village in Uttarakhand to find Jafar, a wanted mining mafia criminal with a $50,000 reward on his head.

The wounded police officers are currently receiving medical care at a hospital in the district of Udham Singh Nagar, DIG Matthew stated.
