“Who Is Shah Rukh Khan?” Assam’s Himanta Sarma When Asked About Pathaan
”Who is Shah Rukh Khan? I don’t know anything about him or the film Pathaan”, was Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s curt answer to queries by reporters in Guwahati on Saturday.
The violent protest by Bajrang Dal supporters, who stormed into the theatre at Narengi in the city on Friday and tore down and burned the movie’s posters, was questioned by the media.
”Khan has not called me, though many from Bollywood do so, regarding the problem. But if he does, I will look into the matter.
“Action will be taken if law and order has been violated and a case has been filed,” he said.
‘Pathaan’ and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan are under criticism for featuring Deepika Padukone in the song ‘Besharam Rang’ wearing a saffron bikini. Numerous leaders, including those from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, have called for the film to be banned.
Reporters informed Mr. Sarma that Mr. Khan is a Bollywood superstar, but Mr. Sarma responded that Assamese films, not Hindi ones, should be of importance to the state’s citizens.
He declared that the Assamese movie “Dr Bezbarua – Part 2,” the late Nipon Goswami’s debut as a director, would soon be released. Pathaan, a film directed by Siddharth Anand, will be available for viewing on January 25.
