Woman Allegedly Targeted in Attempted Vehicular Attack by Senior Bureaucrat’s Son

A horrifying incident unfolded in Thane, Maharashtra, as a 26-year-old woman, Priya Singh, was subjected to a vicious attack allegedly orchestrated by her long-term boyfriend, Ashwajit Gaikwad, the son of a prominent bureaucrat, Anil Gaikwad, the Managing Director at the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation.

The disturbing sequence of events began when Priya received a call from Ashwajit around 4 am, inviting her to join him at a family gathering. Upon arriving, Priya sensed tension as her boyfriend appeared agitated. Attempting to address the situation, she requested a private conversation. However, matters escalated unexpectedly, with Ashwajit and his friends verbally abusing her when she intervened against their derogatory remarks.

Priya recounted the harrowing ordeal on her Instagram, stating that the disagreement spiraled into physical violence. Ashwajit allegedly assaulted her, attempting to strangle her, while his friend forcefully pushed her to the ground. The situation worsened when, as Priya tried to retrieve her belongings from Ashwajit’s car, he purportedly instructed his driver to run her over.

Subsequently, a police official confirmed that the incident unfolded near a Thane hotel at 4:30 am, resulting in Priya sustaining severe injuries after being knocked down by the moving vehicle. Shockingly, she lay in agony for nearly thirty minutes, unable to seek help as her phone remained inaccessible, held by Ashwajit.

Priya is currently hospitalized, undergoing treatment for multiple injuries, including a broken right leg that required surgical intervention. Her testimony to the police revealed extensive bruises and deep scrapes across her body, anticipating a prolonged recovery period extending from months of immobility to subsequent rehabilitation.

While authorities have launched an investigation into the matter, no arrests have been reported as of yet. The case underscores the gravity of intimate partner violence and raises concerns about the alleged involvement of a high-profile individual, prompting public outcry and calls for justice.
