Zareen Khan Granted Interim Bail, Barred from Traveling Abroad Amid Cheating Case
Bollywood actress Zareen Khan found herself in the spotlight once more as the Sealdah court in Kolkata intervened in connection with a 2018 cheating case registered at Narkeldanga police station. The court, after a hearing on Monday, granted Khan interim bail until December 26, allowing her release on a personal bond of ₹30,000. However, this bail came with strict conditions, prohibiting her from leaving the country without prior permission from the Kolkata Police.
The case traces its origins back to 2018 when Khan purportedly received an advance payment of approximately ₹12 lakh for a slated performance at a Durga Puja event in Kolkata. Despite the financial commitment, Khan allegedly failed to fulfill her appearance, prompting the event organizers to file a complaint against her and her manager at the Narkeldanga police station. The court’s decision to issue an arrest warrant against Khan in September further escalated the legal proceedings.
As part of the interim bail conditions, the court directed Khan, who had journeyed from Mumbai to Kolkata, to make mandatory appearances at every hearing session. This move restrains her from international travel without explicit authorization, emphasizing the gravity of the legal matter at hand.
Zareen Khan, a prominent figure in the Bollywood industry, is currently navigating legal complexities as the court proceedings continue to unfold, with her compliance with the stipulated bail conditions under scrutiny.
