Mumbai Court Grants Bail to Shiv Sena Leader in BMW Hit-and-Run Case
A Mumbai magistrate court has granted bail to Rajesh Shah, a leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, in connection with a BMW hit-and-run incident. Shah was initially remanded in 14-day judicial custody for allegedly aiding his son, Mihir Shah, in fleeing the scene and destroying evidence. The bail was granted on a provisional basis upon payment of Rs 15,000. Meanwhile, Rajesh’s driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, has been sent to one-day police custody.
The incident occurred in Worli, where a speeding BMW, allegedly driven by Mihir Shah, rammed into a two-wheeler, dragging a 45-year-old woman, Kaveri Nakhwa, for nearly two kilometers, resulting in her death. Mihir Shah is currently absconding, and a lookout notice has been issued for his arrest. Police investigations revealed that Mihir had visited a bar in Juhu with friends hours before the accident and had consumed alcohol.
Pradeep Liladhar Nakhwa, the husband of the victim, recounted the horrific incident, stating that if the driver had shown some humanity and stopped the car, his wife might still be alive. Pradeep described the driver as a young, skinny man with a beard and dense hair, who sped away despite their desperate pleas to stop.
