Galderma to Acquire ZO Skin Health for $1.5 Billion
Blackstone had been exploring a potential sale of ZO Skin Health with investment banks Citigroup and Raymond James, Reuters reported last month. Founded in 2007 by dermatologist Zein Obagi, ZO Skin Health specialises in physician-distributed skincare products, including cleansers, serums, exfoliators and toners. Blackstone acquired the company through its tactical opportunities fund in 2020.
The acquisition would strengthen Galderma’s presence in the US market and expand its portfolio of dermatology and skincare brands. Established in 1981, the company owns Cetaphil and Alastin Skincare, as well as acne treatments Differin and Epiduo, injectable neurotoxin Dysport and dermal filler brand Restylane. With growing interest in clinically backed skincare products distributed through physicians and skincare professionals, the deal reflects the industry’s increasing focus on premium, science-driven beauty and dermatology brands.
