AAP Leaders and Supporters to Fast in Protest Against Kejriwal’s Arrest

In a significant move to protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), including ministers, lawmakers, and councillors, are set to observe a fast at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi this Sunday. Delhi Minister Gopal Rai, during a press conference, urged people nationwide to participate in the fasting protest by registering on the newly launched website, kejriwalkoashirwad.com. Rai emphasized that the protest aims to unite individuals across various social, student, and farmer organizations in a collective fight to uphold democracy and the constitution.

The AAP’s campaign, named “Kejriwal ko Ashirwad,” extends beyond physical participation, allowing supporters to engage in the fasting protest from their homes, villages, and districts. Gopal Rai stressed the inclusivity of the protest, inviting individuals of all political affiliations to join the cause. The campaign’s reach was further broadened with the launch of a website, following the overwhelming response to a WhatsApp number set up for messages of solidarity which had crashed due to high traffic.

Highlighting the broader implications of the protest, Rai criticized the baseless allegations and arrests faced by AAP leaders, referencing a Supreme Court order that granted bail to AAP leader Sanjay Singh as a vindication. The AAP’s stance against what it perceives as political vendetta and a threat to democratic principles has garnered widespread support, with the party calling on the public to join in their struggle for justice.
