Nashik Prodigy Sets Guinness World Record in Mental Arithmetic

In an extraordinary display of mental agility, Aaryan Shukla, an eighth-grade student from Delhi Public School Nashik, has etched his name into the Guinness World Records. Achieving the title for the ‘fastest time to mentally add 50 five-digit numbers,’ Aaryan completed the task in an astounding 25.19 seconds. This remarkable feat was accomplished on the Italian TV show ‘Lo Show Dei Record’ in Milan, Italy, on February 29, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the young prodigy’s burgeoning career in mental arithmetic.

Aaryan Shukla is no stranger to the spotlight, having previously clinched the title of ‘World Champion’ at the Mental Calculation World Cup held in Paderborn, Germany, in 2022. There, he represented India amongst the top 40 human calculators from 20 different countries. His journey of accolades began even earlier, at the tender age of 8, when he bagged 10 medals at the ‘Memorial Turkey Open Championship’ in Istanbul, Turkey, setting 2 Kids World Records in the process. His achievement in 2018 of winning the highest number of medals in a single competition at Memorial still stands unmatched.

Beyond his successes, Aaryan also serves on the founding board of the Global Mental Calculators Association (GMCA), emphasizing his commitment to advancing the field of mental calculation globally. DPS Nashik’s Chief Learner and Director, Siddharth Rajgarhia, expressed immense pride in Aaryan’s achievements, recognizing them as not just a personal victory but a moment of national pride.
