Air India Express Strike Resolved, Flights to Resume Normally

After several days of disruption due to a cabin crew strike, Air India Express has reached an agreement with its employees, ending the protest that led to numerous flight cancellations and delays. The strike began late Tuesday when several cabin crew members called in sick in protest against alleged mismanagement and issues stemming from the airline’s merger with AIX Connect. The action caused significant inconvenience to passengers, with many flights being canceled on Wednesday and Thursday.

The airline responded by issuing termination letters to 25 cabin crew members, citing a premeditated abstention from work. However, following negotiations, Air India Express agreed to withdraw these terminations. A meeting between the union representatives and the company management on Thursday led to a mutual agreement, and the cabin crew members have agreed to return to work immediately. In light of the resolution, the airline has also promised to address the concerns raised by the crew, including room sharing, support, salary structure, and differential treatment issues.

Air India Express has apologized to affected passengers and assured them of refunds or alternative bookings. While the airline will curtail some flights until May 13, it plans to operate 283 flights with the help of Air India on 20 routes, though 85 flights remain canceled. The return to normal operations is expected to restore confidence among passengers and resolve the scheduling chaos caused by the strike.
