Political Crisis Deepens in Haryana as JJP MLAs Meet Ex-BJP Chief Amid No-Confidence Turmoil

In a significant turn of events in Haryana’s political landscape, four MLAs from the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) were reported to have met with former BJP Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, fueling speculations amidst the ongoing crisis in the BJP-led state government. The meeting, which took place at Minister of State Mahipal Dhanda’s residence in Panipat around 2 PM, comes at a time when Dushyant Chautala and his party have withdrawn their support for Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, pushing the government into a minority.

The political scene in Haryana grew tense after MLAs Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Singh Gollen, and Dharampal Gonder ceased their support for the Saini administration earlier this week. In a dramatic response, Chautala, siding with the opposition Congress, has called for a floor test to prove the government’s majority. However, a procedural hiccup has stalled this move as a no-confidence motion was already dealt with in the last session, and the rules prevent another from being presented in the same session.

The crisis casts a long shadow over the state’s political future, with assembly elections looming in November. The opposition has requested the Governor to convene a special session to address the issue, while Chief Minister Saini remains defiant, asserting that the matter will be settled in the upcoming session. This ongoing turmoil hints at an intense electoral battle ahead, with significant implications for both local and national political dynamics.
