Amit Shah Launches ‘Bharatpol’ Portal to Tackle Borderless Crimes

Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the ‘Bharatpol’ portal at Bharat Mandapam, emphasizing its role in modernizing investigative efforts against fugitives. Developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the portal offers a real-time interface for central and state agencies to connect with Interpol, facilitating faster international assistance and streamlined investigations across 195 member nations.

Highlighting the importance of leveraging technology, Mr. Shah stated, “It is time we use modern tools to nab fugitives who abscond after committing crimes.” He urged the CBI to spearhead capacity-building initiatives for states and integrate the three newly introduced criminal laws into their operations. These laws, he noted, would improve trial processes against absconders.

The Bharatpol initiative aligns with the government’s focus on addressing global challenges through updated internal systems. Mr. Shah also called for institutionalizing knowledge of Interpol notices and their procedures, reinforcing India’s commitment to curbing borderless crimes effectively.
