Assembly election result not favourable for BJP

kiouhg

It seems that the BJP has failed to win the heart of the Hindi heartland this time. As per a latest report, the Congress Party has performed far better than expected in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh –both ruled by the saffron party at this moment- in the crucial assembly election. The report also indicates that the things are not different in Chhattisgarh. However, according to the report, Telangana and Mizoram are the only states where the grand old party have failed to make any significant impact in the election; but, there also, the saffron party has nothing to feel proud of.

Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram are the five states that have gone to polls recently. Of this five, at least three states –Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh- is ruled by the saffron party. These three states are situated in the Hindi heartland where the BJP enjoys enormous support base.

There are assumptions that the present decline of the BJP’s strength in the region is the reflection of the high anti-incumbency factor existed in the region, not the indication of the hatred of the people in the region against the BJP.

Anyway, it is unwise to ignore the fact that the farmers of these agrarian states are extremely unhappy with some celebrated policies of the BJP such as the GST and demonetisation.

Actually, what message this setback gives to the saffron party?
