Ben Stokes Joins Elite Club with 6,000 Runs and 200 Wickets in Test Cricket

England all-rounder Ben Stokes has joined the illustrious company of Garry Sobers and Jacques Kallis, becoming the third player and first from England to achieve the double of 6,000-plus runs and 200-plus wickets in Test cricket. Stokes reached this milestone during the first Test against West Indies at Lord’s by dismissing Kirk McKenzie to claim his 200th Test wicket. In his 103-Test career, Stokes has amassed 6,320 runs at an average of 35.30, including 13 centuries and 31 fifties, with a highest score of 258.

Stokes is also the sixth player and first English cricketer to achieve the double of 10,000 runs and 300 wickets in international cricket. Across 260 international matches, he has scored 10,368 runs at an average of 35.75, with 18 centuries and 56 fifties, and taken 300 wickets. This achievement places him alongside legends like Carl Hooper, Sanath Jayasuriya, Kallis, Shahid Afridi, and Shakib Al Hasan.

In the match, England opted to field first and dismissed West Indies for 121 runs in 41.4 overs, with Mikyle Louis, Kavem Hodge, and Alick Athanaze being the top scorers. England then posted 371 runs in their first innings, gaining a 250-run lead, thanks to half-centuries from Zak Crawley, Jamie Smith, Joe Root, Ollie Pope, and Harry Brook. Jayden Seales was the standout bowler for West Indies with figures of 4/77.
