Bihar Hooch tragedy: 82 dead, National Human Rights Commission announces probe

National Human Rights Commission announces inquiry into Bihar Hooch disaster. A Human Rights Commission team will be sent to Bihar to investigate. The death toll in the disaster has reached 82. 16 people died today.

So far 74 deaths have been reported in Saran district alone. 25 people lost their sight. 30 people are undergoing treatment in different hospitals. 12 of them are in critical condition. With the death toll rising in various districts, the government has directed all police stations to intensify investigations into illegal liquor sales. The opposition demanded a judicial inquiry.

LJP leader Chirag Paswan alleged that more than 200 people have died after drinking poisoned liquor in the state and the Nitish Kumar government is not releasing the real information. 213 people have been arrested in Bihar in connection with the sale of illegal liquor.
