Bombay High Court Delays Release of Netflix Docuseries on Sheena Bora Case

In a recent move, the Bombay High Court has directed Netflix to postpone the release of its docuseries, “The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth,” initially scheduled to premiere on February 23. The decision came after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raised concerns that the series, which promises to unveil new revelations about the mysterious disappearance of Sheena Bora, could potentially impact the ongoing investigation and influence public opinion. The court has ordered a special screening for CBI officers before its release on the streaming platform.

The documentary focuses on the high-profile case of Sheena Bora, a 24-year-old woman whose murder in 2012 has entangled several members of her family in legal battles, including her mother, Indrani Mukerjea, who is the prime accused. The case, filled with a complex web of lies, deceit, and family secrets, has captivated the nation’s attention for years. The Supreme Court granted bail to Indrani Mukerjea in May 2022, highlighting the prolonged duration of her incarceration and the lengthy trial process.

Netflix’s announcement of the docuseries had sparked considerable anticipation, with the platform describing it as a deep dive into “a sensational scandal that rocked the entire nation.” However, the judiciary’s intervention underscores the delicate balance between storytelling and the implications it might have on legal proceedings. The matter has been postponed to next Thursday, leaving viewers and participants eagerly awaiting further developments.
